Caribbean Venture Collective Opens First Local HQ in Little Caribbean NYC
PRESS RELEASE
New York, NY – May 8th, 2025 — Caribbean Venture Collective (“CVC”), a U.S. based network and Founder fellowship that launched in March amplifying innovation with a connection to the Caribbean, is proud to announce its first local HQ, in the Little Caribbean neighborhood of Brooklyn NY.
Located on the corridors of Flatbush, Church, Nostrand, and Utica Avenues, Little Caribbean (littlecaribbean.nyc) is the largest and most diverse Caribbean-American-LatinX community outside of the West Indies, making up 20% of New York City’s population. Spearheaded by Shelley Worrell of iamcariBEING in 2017, Little Caribbean has become a global capital and celebrated destination for Caribbean culture, and has been featured by press including The NY Times, Crains, Michelin Guide, NBC and others.
Last year, Timeout.com crowned Little Caribbean the coolest neighborhood in NYC and the 17th coolest in the world.
“Little Caribbean is a symbol of diaspora solidarity and what becomes possible when culture and community align. It felt fitting that CVC’s first HQ be right here in the heart of it all,” said Mita Carriman, Co-Founder of Caribbean Venture Collective.
“As a former tech executive, having Caribbean Venture Collective rooted in the world’s first Little Caribbean is a testament to the power of the Diaspora. By being based in Flatbush, Caribbean Venture Collective can empower the Caribbean and its Diaspora by supporting its economic, social and cultural development.” said Shelley Worrell, Founder of Little Caribbean.
Launched in March 2025, Caribbean Venture Collective serves two types of pre-seed to Series A founders through its equity-free fellowship program: (1) founders of Caribbean descent building tech startups in any vertical, and (2) founders of any heritage or nationality building tech startups in one of eight impact verticals shaping the future of the Caribbean, including Travel/Hospitality Tech, Supply Chain, Proptech, Agritech, Climate Tech, Fintech, Healthtech, and Edtech.
“For too long, Caribbean entrepreneurs with world-changing ideas have struggled to break through—not because they lacked vision, but because they lacked venture-backed support,” said Daniel Smith, Co-Founder of Caribbean Venture Collective. “CVC is here to change that.”
CVC’s Little Caribbean HQ places it among some of NY’s most iconic Caribbean-owned businesses, bakeries, barber shops, juice bars, restaurants, and boutiques, fostering a cultural ecosystem where founders, investors, and allies can collaborate while staying connected to the community’s roots.
Applications for the inaugural Caribbean Venture Collective Founder Fellowship are open now through June 16, 2025 and can be found at caribbeanventurecollective.com/fellows. Founders of Caribbean descent building tech startups are welcomed and encouraged to apply.
On Wednesday, May 14th 6:30 - 8:30 PM, Caribbean Venture Collective is also hosting a “Tech Lime” event at the Little Caribbean HQ located at 1399 Nostrand Avenue featuring a panel talk on how Caribbean founders can find and connect with investors, followed by a Q&A about the Caribbean Venture Collective Founder Fellowship. The event is free and open to the public and will be featuring CVC's Co-Founder Mita Carriman and Cavaughn Noel - Product Growth Strategist & Founder of The Massiv.
“It’s truly more important now than ever that we come together as a community to build equity in technology, especially as a Caribbean culture. No one is going to do it for us so we have to build it ourselves” shares Cavaughn Noel.
